Middle Ages, and not only in Rome were their stringently geometrical patterns highly acclaimed. These families received orders from all over Latium to mainly design church floors. Even in England we can up to this day admire their work, which represents an important segment of art history. By capturing the spirit of these ancient tessellated floors and transferring it into high-quality carpets, SASSOMO has created a living memory of the old master´s skills.
The precious materials and colours that we use are reminiscent of the Middle Ages, of original tessellated flooring made of Greek marble, Egyptian porphyry, of alabaster and onyx between approximately 1030 and 1270 AD.
